15 Photos to Inspire You to Visit Menorca | Spain
I always look forward to summer and the energy that it brings to the city. Here in Madrid, summer days are slow and relaxed; though, once the sun goes down, the city comes to life. Neighborhood squares overflow with families and friends, all catching up over tapas and cañas into the early hours of the morning. The atmosphere is electric and one of the many reasons I love living in Madrid. There is however, one downside to living in the city during the summer: the intense heat. Last August, I escaped the sweltering heat of Madrid for the unspoiled nature and crystal clear waters of Menorca, Spain.
Why Go
Menorca was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993, resulting in the protection of the island’s ecosystems and the prevention of overdevelopment. You won’t find a surplus of hotels or chain restaurants on the island, but you will find charming pueblos, lush landscapes and pristine beaches. Spend your days snorkeling in secluded coves and relaxing on the beach enjoying the paradise that is Menorca.
