An Afternoon at the Bay of Pigs | Cuba
Propaganda billboards lead the way to the Bay of Pigs, each one commenting on the victory of the Fidel and Cubans. “Aqui estuvo la comandancia de Fidel en los combates de playa giron” and another one that basically said, “they only got this far!” But the actual Bay of Pigs isn’t named for the “pigs” who tried to overthrow Castro, it’s named for the type of fish that inhabits the bay and makes a pig like grunt when caught. The water is warm, the beach is long and sandy, and the mojitos are strong and sugary. Here are some photos as we drove from Havana through the countryside and residential neighborhoods for our afternoon on the beach with Coast to Costa.
